Warning Signs: Does Your Project Need a Reset?

When a project begins to lose momentum, it may be time for a reset in order to avoid detrimental side effects, such as the team becoming disengaged and missing important key performance indicators (KPIs).

What warning signs can help us to realise that a change in direction is needed?

• Monitor your front channel – these are aspects of the project that are easily measured e.g. project deliverables, timelines, KPIs, etc.
• Constantly assess your back channel – how your team is showing up and engaging with their work.
• It’s critical to keep an eye on both channels – to make sure that the project updates you’re sharing are clear and relevant to the team while, at the same time, ensuring that your people are leaning into the project.

• Team members’ body language at in-person work activities
• Levels of attentiveness during meetings
• An increase or decrease in positive interactions between team members
